Well, so it’s not really the end of the world (at least, to the best of my knowledge), but it’s December 21, 2012, which is the day many fanatics were predicting it to be. Yes, I know the Mayans predicted the end of some phase, as well. Apparently, it was supposed to occur at 6:12 a.m. Eastern time…I was in the car at that exact moment watching the seconds tick by. I survived.
I got to thinking, though. If the world truly DID end today, my last thoughts probably wouldn’t be on my hair. My husband and I watch TV shows like “Revolution” and “The Walking Dead”; if the world changed forevermore, then I think I would think about my hair quite a bit!
What would happen if I couldn’t use the proper volumizing products to help disguise the thinning? What if I couldn’t use my hair fibers or concealers? My special shampoo? Again, there are far more things to worry about than hair, but when you have hair like you and me, these things do creep into your thoughts. Am I the only one?
Take “Revolution,” for example. How do the girls look so beautiful with no electricity or no makeup? They are running around, hiding and shooting and doing other things and seemingly look perfect. A bit gritty, sometimes, but really no worse for the wear. Now take me. After two days without washing my hair, people are screaming and covering their eyes at the sight of me. Not really, but you know what I mean.
If life changed forever, would I have the self-confidence to hold my head high? I don’t know…but I know I’d have to find a way. After all, I’d have to fight off the masses for whatever Nioxin shampoo is left in the world.
Beauty is not caused. It is.”
