Earlier this month, I spent a week with my family on a cruise. It was a fabulous week filled with fun, beaches and relaxation. Vacations are always nice, but you know what makes my vacation that much better? The fact that I wear hair!
I got to thinking about all the reasons why vacations are so much easier now that I wear helper hair, and I thought you might be interested in hearing my thoughts.
In no particular order…let’s go!
You Can Debut Hair for the First Time
For those of you who haven’t pulled the trigger on wearing hair yet, let me tell you that on vacation is the PERFECT time to try wearing hair.
Think about it.
You know absolutely no one. Those “no ones” haven’t a clue about your hair loss. I’d argue that most people are pretty self-preoccupied during a normal day, but people on vacation are even less interested in those around them. They are busy having fun with their friends and family. Eating. Drinking. Exploring. You and your wimpy bio hair will never cross their minds.
You Can Wear A Different Color…Maybe Even Every Day
Since I was on a cruise, we had different venue choices for dinner every night, so I never saw the same people twice (well, I did, but not for long enough that people would notice me). I could’ve worn blonde one day, red the next, and no one would’ve batted an eyelash.
Except for maybe our cabin steward, because he was really attentive. But, I figure he’s seen crazier things taking care of all of those rooms, right?
No More Burnt Scalp
I used to hate being out in the sun because my scalp would burn SO badly. I’d have to meticulously apply sunscreen along my wide part, which would mess with my concealers and leave my hair looking greasy.
And you know what?
It still burned, almost every single time. So I’d have gross, flaky scalp on top of hair loss. Not fun.
Since helper hair covers up your scalp, you get instant coverage. My topper was basically sunscreen with clips.
No More Sunglasses Dent
On vacation, you’re in sunglasses all the time, right? But do you experience what I used to?
Are you familiar with that dreaded dent on the top of your hair where you push your sunglasses up onto your head? I used to HATE this, because not only did the dent look stupid, but sometimes it would even leave a gap and show my scalp.
I push my sunglasses on top of my head all the time now, and haven’t seen a dent, ever.
No Brassy Hair Color
If you wear synthetic hair, you can rest assured that the sun will not fade your hair. When I used to get my bio hair dyed, it would turn a brassy red color almost instantly in the sun.
Now my hair stays the perfect shade of mousy brown that I love (ha!).
You Can Get Ready in a Flash
Why waste precious time primping on vacation? No matter hot sticky and humid it got outside, my synthetic hair held up beautifully. It never looked too perfect, but it always looked put together. I never submerged myself, but I did a fair bit of splashing around, and my hair still look great (and yes, you can swim in a topper or wig!).
Even if you wear human hair (which will be subject to the weather, but sometimes less so than your bio hair), you can get it ready ahead of time for when you need it. If you don’t wear your hair at the pool, for example, you can have your hair ready to go, sitting in the room. Or, if you bring two pieces, you can wear one while the other sits pre-styled, ready to go when you need her.
You Can Pack Less
This might vary depending on if you wear synthetic or human hair, but I know I bring way fewer hair products now that I wear hair. My brush, my hair glue, and a travel-sized hairspray (to add grip to my bio hair, for my clips) is all I bring.
Here a quick peek of me the day we set sail out of Texas. Check out how well my Got2B hair glue performed…it was such a gloomy, windy, rainy day!
So there you have it! Have you vacationed with helper hair? What did you love (or not love) about it?
